The Energy Department says it’s not 100 percent certain, but the most likely source for the COVID pandemic is a laboratory leak in Wuhan, China. The Department also says it does not believe the virus was part of any Chinese biological weapons program. COVID has killed more than seven million people worldwide, more than a million in the U.S.

A major winter storm has left parts of Southern California with highway closures and almost 27,000 power outages in Los Angeles County. New weather records include downtown Los Angeles’s wettest February day since 2003, LA’s first blizzard warning since 1989 and San Diego’s first blizzard warning EVER. Snow has been recorded as low as a thousand feet above sea level, and Big Bear Mountain got 100 inches of snow last week, more than their yearly average. More rain and snow there through Wednesday.

A new study finds daily marijuana use can increase a person’s risk of Coronary Artery Disease. The study, led by a Stanford University researcher, found daily cannabis users were nearly 35% more likely to be diagnosed with coronary artery disease than those who have never used the drug. But it also concluded people who use marijuana once a month or less were at no significant risk.

Notre Dame women’s basketball won the ACC regular season title Sunday with a 68-65 win at Louisville. The Irish will open conference tournament play Friday against the winner of Thursday’s NC State-Syracuse game.

Irish hockey will host a Big Ten tournament quarterfinal this weekend after sweeping two games at Michigan Friday and Saturday. The Irish host Michigan State in a best of three series Friday, Saturday, and if necessary, Sunday.

17th ranked Indiana completed a sweep of its regular season series against 5th ranked Purdue Saturday night, winning in West Lafayette, 79-71. The Hoosiers host Iowa Tuesday’ purdue is at Wisconsin Thursday.
