With many businesses and restaurants closed today for Thanksgiving, employees are seeing a rare day off as they mentally prepare for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, the busiest shopping days of the year. Retail sales have largely recovered from the pandemic, and on-line sales continue to grow, taking a larger slice of the purchasing pie each year. Many businesses remain under-staffed, as some people still have not returned to the workforce. Pack some patience as you head out to stores this weekend.

Most road construction is on hold for the holiday weekend, and most summer projects are wrapped or wrapping up. An important section of US 20 and 31 on the south side of South Bend is nearly complete, after a summer and fall of work on the US 31 and 20 Michigan Street interchange. The bridge over Michigan where US 31 heads south remains one lane each way, but is expected to be completely open, along with all ramps, in about a week.

Seven Michigan State football players have been criminally charged after a post-game fight following their game at Michigan last Saturday. The fight broke out in a tunnel under Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor as the teams left the field following Michigan’s 29-to-7 win. Michigan State coach Mel Tucker says the team and the university will cooperate with law enfoircement throughout the investigation. Eight Spartan players are currently suspended.

Notre Dame’s football team will have Thanksgiving Day dinner together today on campus before departing for Los Angeles and Saturday night’s game against Southern Cal. Kickoff at 7:30 Saturday night on Sunny 101.5.

Notre Dame women’s basketball is in the Bahamas for a couple of games over the next few days. The 7th ranked Irish take on American University this afternoon at 4 on Live 99.9.

The NFL schedule today has three games. starting with Buffalo at Detroit at 12:30. The New York Giants are at Dallas at 4:30, and New England at Minnesota at 8:20 tonight. All three games can be heard on Sports Radio 960 AM WSBT.
