After a week off because trucks were needed for snow removal, the city of South Bend resumes fall leaf pickups again today. Two areas in eastern and southeastern South Bend will see leaf pickups this shortened holiday week, and the overall program resumes next week. If weather allows, pickups will continue through December 16th. Remember, leaf burning is illegal inside the city limits.

A Michigan man once again faces the possibility of deportation back to his native Turkey. Ibrahim Parlak of Harbert has been in the US legally for more than two decades, but Turkey wants him back, claiming he is a Kurdish terrorist. Parlak denies that, and says deportation could be a death sentence. He was tortured during three years in Turkish jails before he came to the US. The latest controversy is over the transcript of a 2018 hearing where a judge ruled he could stay.

We may yet see a national rail worker strike next month. A tentative deal in September between railroads and unions that addressed longtime disputes over pay, working conditions and paid time off. Members of two of 12 unions that must sign off on the deal have rejected it, and if something isn’t settled, workers could be off the job as soon as December 3rd.

Notre Dame football will learn its latest College Football Playoff ranking tonight, as the Irish prepare for their regular season finale Saturday at Southern Cal. Kickoff at 7:30 Saturday on Sunny 101-point-5.

Irish women’s basketball is up to 7th in the latest national poll released Monday by the Associated Press. They have two games this week at a holiday tournament in the Bahamas.

Monday night NFL in Mexico: the San Francisco 49ers over the Arizona Cardinals, 38-to-10.

NBA: the Bulls won at home in Chicago, 121-107 over Boston. The Indiana Pacers won at home, 123-102 over Orlando.
