Some pretty sophisticated counterfeit money has been passed around Elkhart the last few weeks. Police say the criminals apparently take real ten dollar bills, wash them to remove all the ink, and reprint them at 50s or 100s. That means they pass the usual pen test for real money paper, and look very real. A number of businesses in the Elkhart area are now refusing to take any bills higher than 20s from customers, after they got burned.

The state of Indiana has agreed to implement changes to its absentee voter system to better accommodate people with disabilities. Until now, voters who can’t see well had to have a poll worker visit them at home to assist with voting. Under the agreement, the state will implement a computer system compatible with technologies already out there, so people can truly vote privately. This all came about as a result of a 20-20 lawsuit by several disabled voters.

In addition to his involuntary manslaughter charges, actor Alec Baldwin now faces a lawsuit by Halyna Hutchins’ family for her death on the set of the film “Rust” in New Mexico. Her parents and sister are being represented by celebrity attorney Gloria Allred. The suit alleges negligence, battery, intentional affliction of emotional distress, and more.

Super Bowl Sunday is this weekend: the Kansas City Chiefs against the Philadelphia Eagles in Arizona. Kickoff at about 6:40 Sunday evening.

Tenth ranked Notre Dame women’s basketball won at home last night, 69-63 over Pittsburgh.
In the Big Ten, number one Purdue over Iowa, 87-73. Tomorrow, Notre Dame hosts Virginia Tech, and 18th ranked Indiana is at Michigan. On Sunday, Purdue is at Northwestern.

Notre Dame hockey hosts Ohio State at the Compton Family Ice Arena for two games: tonight at 7:30, Saturday at 6, both games on Quality Rock Z 94-3.

NBA: the Chicago Bulls lost at Brooklyn, 116-105. Tonight, the Indiana Pacers host Phoenix, the Detroit Pistons are at home against San Antonio.
