Morning News Podcast: Monday, March 13th

A lot of us will be a little groggy this morning as we need a few days to adjust to the time change over the weekend. Clocks moved forward an hour Sunday morning for Daylight Time, and that means your body clocks thinks it’s 5am when it’s really six. A little patience and understanding will go a long way the next few days as we all adjust.

A bank collapse in California’s Silicon Valley last week is the biggest since the housing recession 15 years ago, and the Federal Reserve and Treasury Department are taking steps to make sure it doesn’t spread. They announced Sunday that all deposits, even the uninsured ones, will be covered, as another bank in New York was closed by regulators on Sunday.

At the Oscars last night, the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once won a lot of the major awards, including best picture, best directing, best actress for Michelle Yeoh, and best supporting actor and actress. Best Actor went to Brendan Fraser in The Whale.

Sports: the Purdue Boilermakers are the top seed in their region of the NCAA Tournament after the bracket was revealed Sunday evening. The Indiana Hoosiers are a four seed, and Michigan State is a seven seed. All three play their opening games Friday.

The Notre Dame women will host first and second round NCAA games at Purcell Pavilion, as the three seed in their region. The Indiana Hoosier women are a one seed, hosting first and second round games in Bloomington.

NBA: the Indiana Pacers are at Detroit tonight.

Hockey: the Detroit Redwings won at home, 5-to-3 over the Boston Bruins. The Bruins will be in Chicago to play the Blackhawks tomorrow night.
